Finial Drop Christmas Ornament

This year, I have a little toddler running around for Christmas. That means I can't have my normal glass ornaments on the christmas tree.

So, instead, I have designed this series of crocheted christmas ornaments to decorate the bottom half of our tree. Since they're yarn and stuffing, it won't matter if he pulls them off the tree or tries to play with them. Win-win for all!

Falling Leaves Cardigan

I have been wanting to make myself a sweater for some time now. I love cardigans, but most of the ones I own are fairly plain and a little boring. So I set out to make a cardigan that I would be happy to wear. This sweater uses my embedded pineapple motif to give detail to the bottom half while keeping the top relatively simple so it can be worn with just about anything.

Axolotl

A couple of years ago, I was chatting with some friends asking them what to make for another friend who was having a baby. Pernille suggested making an axolotl stuffed animal. Not knowing what they were, I had to look up pictures of the cute pink salamander. While I thought they were cute, it wasn't quite right for that friend. Fast forward to this summer when I found out Pernille was having her own baby, I knew just what to make for her: an axolotl!

Pernille's Square

A friend of mine recently had a little baby girl, so of course, I wanted to make a blanket for her.
I designed this blanket as a heirloom-style lace square with a simple border that joins the squares while not detracting from the shape of each square.

Poison Ivy Wrap

Lately, I have been wanting a solid shawl or wrap to keep warm on cool late summer and early autumn nights. I set out to design a wrap that had some decoration within it but fewer holes than most lace wraps out there.

Red-Tailed Boa Constrictor

I recently decided that I wanted to make a new toy for my son. He is at a phase where he loves to grasp an object in each hand and stretch it as wide as his arms (or the object) will allow. My husband suggested making a snake that could either coil up or stretch depending on how it is handled.

I opened up my favorite book of snake images, "Serpentine" by Mark Laita, and was immediately drawn to the dramatic color transitions of the red-tailed boa constrictor. Further in the book, there is also an image of a boa skeleton that curls back and forth is a most dramatic fashion. These were the inspiration for this snake.

A Different Ripple Blanket

I have always wanted to make a ripple blanket. However, I've never attempted one because I get easily bored of simple repetitious patterns. When I set out to make a larger blanket for me and my son to cuddle with, and that can soon transition to his toddler blanket, I knew I needed to come up with a different variation of a standard ripple.

Rainbow Sunburst Blanket

I wanted my little boy to have a super colorful blanket for his stroller and in the car so I created this rainbow sunburst blanket.

For this blanket, I didn't want a traditional rainbow but I still wanted it to be super colorful. Originally, I was inspired by Knit Pick's Hue Shift afghan (see the knit version for a better picture), but did not want to make something too similar to it. After a lot of trial and error on the computer (and a little color theory help from my husband) I came up with this design that sort of radiates a rainbow without being over the top.
